The UK DNA database

without comments

Spyblog addresses some of the issues with the proposals by Lord Justice Stephen Sedley that everyone in the UK (including all visitors) should have their DNA taken and stored on a national database.

How exactly would such a policy be implemented? There are going to be a lot of people who won’t want to give their DNA, plenty who will refuse. Are the police going to go door to door with warrants demanding access to the inside of your mouth on pain of arrest? Or will they just knock down your door while your out and nab your toothbrush?

Completely ridiculous? Or just an interesting policy implementation challenge?
